Week-End Book Report # 2
This weeks reading material was a bit heavy on the Mercer Mayer, Marc Brown and Paulette Bourgeois side. Autumn and Alaina adore reading "Franklin," "Little Critter," and "Arthur" books. Remember, they are doing the scoring and it is very subjective. I think they are doing a great job rating the books....but of course they have lots of favorites and want to give them all high scores. However, I am agreeing with all their ratings, and I think you can definitely trust their low scores. We read so much that they are pretty good at saying when then didn't enjoy a book.
Here is our rating scale: (if it scores a 4 or 5 then we recommend it)
1= we'll never check this book out again.
2= If there was nothing else to read we could suffer through it.
3= Enjoyed it once, but once will probably be enough.
4= We would be happy to check this book out again, and will probably look for it again on the shelves. We would recommend it to a friend.
5= This goes on our list of all-time favorites. We could enjoy it numerous times, and will probably check it out often or already do check it out often. We would recommend or buy it for a friend.

Study Guide/LapBook Template for "Hound Dog True," by Linda Urban
I just finished reading "Hound Dog True," by Linda Urban. It was a great book and a quick read...I recommend it! This book is the current read for Autumn's Brown Bag Book Club at the Bayliss Library. (I posted the meeting info at the bottom of this post in case you're kiddos are interested in attending.) I decided I would help Autumn to get ready for her meeting by creating my first ever study guide/ lapbook guide for a book. We don't know very many people who do lapbooks, and so I thought she might have fun sharing this way of studying with her book club friends. There aren't a lot of resources or study guides on the web for this book, so I uploaded what I created to Scribd (a document sharing website) and I would love for you to check it out and even use the guide and ideas within. However I do not own any of the clip-art or images in the document so please do not re-post or sell the document.
You can go straight to the document by clicking on the link below!

P.S. Since this is my first attempt at creating a lapbook study guide I would love your comments or suggestions.
